Morning Moon Wins!
Our name the cheese contest closed at end of February and what a close race it turned out to be! Out of the 5 finalist names, Fifth Wheelsman took off like a rocket at first, but MORNING MOON ended up being the tortoise that surpassed the hare! It won by ONE vote!
So our new, firm, washed rind local cow milk cheese will be named Morning Moon. The name was submitted by Mrs. Jacquie Burley of Cressy, Prince Edward County. She will be receiving a whole wheel of our new cheese to enjoy! However, we will be sending a whole wheel of the new cheese to the Creasy’s of Cressy as well as their name was a very close runner up (Fifth Wheelsman).
Jacquie’s rationale for suggesting this name was that at this end of The County, we often have a beautiful morning moon visible over the lake.
Tragically Hip fans might also note that there is a T-Hip song named Morning Moon as well! (And we have a lot of T-Hip fans in the area!)
Morning Moon is made in the same style as our Cape Vessey and Bonnie & Floyd but with cows’ milk from Jean McCornock’s farm just down the road from our dairy. We have been sampling the cheese in past 2 weeks and reviews have been great! It will be officially released in May. Please visit the FT store to be one of the first to try it!
